I've been traveling a bit the last few months, here is a quick rundown. In late February I headed down south to visit the family in sunny Florida, and to celebrate my Grandfather's 91st trip around the sun.
In early April Sloane and I took a trip up to her family home in Vermont, to spend some time with the Whelan crew, where I met my newest niece, Darby Irene. I was pretty excited to see Vermont with out snow, since I have only been to their house around Christmas. Vermont had other ideas - and dumped 3-6 inches of snow on us during our trip. This made for an excellent sunrise hike up to the southern peak of Mount Tom.
I made the annual migration north to the Allegheny National Forest for the first day of trout season in Eastern PA, at the beginning of April. Mostly I just drank in the woods with old friends from high school, cut a couple of trees down, and burned them all. Some people did actually fish. We had a glorious, rain free weekend, with temperatures warm enough for shorts during the day, and nights cold enough to build a serious raging fire.
